I've poked around in forums and on the web in general, trying to find a solution with little or no luck. If my 'start' was simply as good as the jpg I'd be spending less time editing/fixing. and while my end results are ok, I feel like I'm working backwards. I've been kind of beating my head against this trying to get my RAWs to look right, or just as good as that embedded image. No combination of any of these settings that I've been able to find, generally speaking has as 'good' a look as the simple JPG, I assume "as shot" that is embedded in the RAW. and then of course, when 'customizing', under 'color' there are multiple options for color rendering - category and rendering.
Under 'edit / preferences / DISPLAY / common' I can choose an ICC profile. Under 'edit / preferences / correction settings' I can choose a default preset. Someone please correct me if I have that wrong.Īfter a half a second or so of viewing the initial jpg, the software switches to the default view set in the software.
When I open photolab 5, I get an initial preview, that I assume is from the embedded jpg contained in the RAW.
